Most landscape lighting applications are best suited for 12 Volt Low Voltage installations. 12V installations are safer and cheaper labor-wise to install, as you do not need to trench and run conduit underground. 120 Volt installations are typically for applications where 120V is already ran and installed. 12V requires a transformer, 120V does not. It's important to note that voltage does not determine brightness; wattage does. Therefore, a 6-watt 12v spotlight and a 6-watt 120v LED spotlight will provide the same brightness if installed properly.
